diary of an escapist

I live in a tiny tent on a tiny island in the big Caribbean Sea.

  • This is my life.  No, really.  This is my life.  I live in the Virgin Islands and this particular view is one I have had more times than I can probably count (I’m very bad at math, so I should use a different phrase).  I am leaving this beautiful place in less than a year.  I have been here for almost six.  It’s time.  But I’m a bit frightened that no other place will quite live up to this one.  What comes after paradise?  The bar for amazing places to live has been raised high now.  What tops this?

  • If Christmas has been Caribbean for the last 5 years or so, then is that your normal Christmas?  What happens when you go back to everyone else’s normal Christmas?  I am beginning to think that this particular holiday will never again feel normal, no matter where I am.  Check back for new on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing…
